The nickname “Sunflower State” calls to mind the wild flowers of the plains of Kansas and the officially recognized state flower. Kansas has only 13.2 miles of Route 66, but we make several stops. Scott Nelson at Eisler Bothers makes some real good sandwiches for lunch, and in the quaint, old fashion country store, you can purchase, among other things, some great souvenirs.
A couple hundred yards west of Eisler Brothers we stop again at ‘the Rainbow Bridge’. Maybe Dean Walker is waiting there for us to exhibit his talent. He can - believe it or not - turn his feet around to point backwards! It is a taxing talent, and he is only able to perform a couple of times a day. We give him a dollar each, and ask that he escort us a couple of miles down the road to the Museum in Baxter Springs.
