Ken Turmel

Greetings from Two Lane America !

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Ken Turmel , and I was born directly on Route 66 near the road's end in Santa Monica , California . I started to become familiar with the Mother Road and many other Two Lane Highways in America at the age of 3. That is when I took my first cross-country roadtrip with Mom and Dad. From those early years, the seeds of adventure travel were planted within me, and have since blossomed into a love and passion for the open roads.

There was a certain rebirth for my search of roads less traveled. One night in 1993, I had a dream to head out on the open roads, to document these travels through the process of collecting official U.S. post office postmarks, and to photo journalize these adventures along the way. This work is now known as Postmarkart . Since that dream in 1993, I have accumulated over 250,000 miles of travel along many of America 's trails, byways, back roads, two lane highways, and interstate highways. Actually, I sometimes trek into remote areas where no roads, automobiles or motorcycles exist.

This is how I have come to know of Mr. Trond Moberg. Trond has been leading motorcycle tours down Route 66 since 1999, and his knowledge of how to do these journeys is certainly unsurpassed. Our lives then intersected one day on the open road. The both of us first met in person sometime back at a quaint roadside café in Arcadia , Oklahoma , along side Route 66. At that time, Trond was leading one of his 66 Road Warrior Harley Davidson tours from Chicago to Los Angeles . There must have been at least 30 to 40 Scandinavian road warriors on that tour. As I distinctly remember, there was an ear to ear smile on each and everyone's face and a joyful laughter often filled the air. It was certainly apparent that everyone on the tour was having the time of their life!

As I visited and spoke with Trond and many of his fellow crew members, I immediately discovered that Trond was doing a very good thing for our faded yet timeless Mother Road . He was bringing back ‘Life' to our good road, and doing it in such a way that I had never seen any other motorcycle crew chief do before. Trond was making frequent stops along the route, to visit the small and vintage Mom and Pop locations, to allow the tour members to experience first hand, the roadside side activities that make for a great roadtrip, which in turn gives each traveler the lifetime of wonderful memories that I earlier spoke of. This was no ordinary and generic tour across America . Quite the opposite indeed! So impressed was I, of how Trond's tours appealed to all of the fellow Road Warriors, that it was instantly decided that I myself must experience such a tour along the road that I knew and loved so well.

During Trond's next summer tour, I joined this fellow road warrior on a Harley Davidson Sportster. I am here to testify first hand, by the fact of actually traveling with Trond and his crew; that I have experienced no other tour of our historic Mother Road that has been more enjoyable or grander! Trond Moberg's vast knowledge of the road, including locations of all her vintage icons, landmarks and historic sites along the way is indeed second to none! Each and every cycle tour is carefully calculated and each day's planned itinerary is precisely executed in an extremely professional manner. Trond has made sure to manage every small detail so that all the tour member's needs and expectations are fully met with complete and total satisfaction. His tours along Route 66 have been acclaimed to be the best that European visitors could ever experience. I would most definitely concur with that statement.

Without any hesitation, I would highly recommend to everyone, both young and old, either American or International citizens, to make plans to join in an adventure of a lifetime with Trond Moberg and his Route 66 Road Warrior “Two Lane Adventure” Tours Across America! This landrunner has come to know that Trond has that same love and passion for the Mother Road that I grew up with. I tip my hat and bandana to Trond for his fine work and efforts in bringing new life and road warrior enjoyment along Route 66!

In closing, I must say that this common bond between Trond and I, has made it feel as if we are Brothers of the Two Lane Highways. Once you take that ultimate road trip with Mr. Moberg, there is no doubt in my mind that you will feel exactly the same way too.

I anxiously wait to meet each and every future Route 66 Road Warrior out on the open road. There is always a new and exciting adventure over the next horizon, and those are the adventures that will most certainly be your memories of a lifetime! Until that time, …

Viva Two Lane Highways!

God Bless and Happy Trails!
